Getting started
There’s much to learn in Homestead. You have some options how to get an overview:
- Go in blind, explore the world, collect loot and mine everything ore see. Then use the recipe viewer on your loot (
R
) to learn about all possible uses - you will be astounded! - Check out the individual mods and read about how they work, what they add, and how you can make use of them.
- Make a creative single-player world and browse through the items - especially useful for finding decorations!

Voice Chat to connect you
In Homestead, you can talk to your friends (or foes) inside the game. To set up voice chat, press Shift + V
to
configure input, output and more. It’s very easy and very cool.
Quests to guide you (learn more)
You will receive a Quest book when first joining. Whenever you’re unsure what to do next, consult it and be inspired! It will also provide you with some support during the first hours of gameplay.
Exploration to inspire you (learn more)
Once you start exploring the world, you will come across many different biomes and structures. There is tons to explore and much inspiring loot to find! To be prepared for the long trips, consider the following tips:
- Pack extra supplies before heading out, the wilds can be unpredictable!
- Create waypoints with
+
to mark interesting structures on your map. - Utilize the Nature’s Compass and Explorer’s Compass to help you along your journey.
- Don’t be afraid to settle down inside found structures - many make great bases!
- Prepare for the Nether and End - they’re tougher, but packed with new biomes and secrets.
Progression to motivate you (learn more)
The longer you play, the more you will stumble upon materials and resources you’ve never seen before. Many of these can be used for stronger tools than hat you know from Minecraft. Make tools from Obsidian or scour the world for rare metals with special effects. There are many options with different benefits, fit for any playstyle.
